Seasonal Helpful Hints: Fall

Fall can be a great refresher for your garden; it is also a perfect time to revamp your summer containers with some fresh fall flowers. Garden mums are showing their cheerful earth tone colours, and the pansies and violas are flashing their smiling faces. It is also a great time to think ahead to spring. Spring flowering bulbs are now in stock and ready for sale at our garden centre. It is easy to forget that the gorgeous colours early on next year come from what you do now.

Fall and late autumn are a great time (once again) to CLEAN and MULCH. If you struggled with finding time during the summer and let the weeds get out of control now is the time to rid your beds of them. You are best to do it before they set seed and flourish next spring and summer. This is also a great time to re-mulch your beds and protect your tender perennials. Most importantly though is to enjoy the amazing colours of fall.

• Time to feed the roots for winter. A good fall/winter fertilizer is Marigolds Fall Blend fertilizer 6-3-20.

Remember: A healthy, vigorous growing lawn makes it harder for moss and weeds to establish.
